Welcome to Network 1212, Taylor Street’s newest social club. Our social network is open to adults, 18-35, with high functioning autism or social/communication challenges who can participate without parents. Siblings or supportive friends are welcome. Watch for our meetings on Facebook, Twitter, and the meetup group CASPAN where we announce our events.
Beginning this spring, many of the Network 1212 events will be hosted or begin in the community space of Project 1212. We’ll provide opportunities for outings as well as educational meetings, including Explore Chicago, monthly cooking classes, fitness classes in the West Loop and in-house movie nights. Our long term goal is to see what happens to the depth and stability of individual networks for adults with autism when we provide the structure, and document the results of our work. While we are at it, we’d like to illuminate all the operational networks for young adults in the city. In fact, we hope to make the Near West Side into the most autism friendly space in Chicago.
If you are interested in learning more about Network 1212, we’ll be offering various levels of membership. Please contact us for more information.
